Researchers Looking for Genes that may Increase Blood Clot Risk Marie B. Walker December, 2010 The Anticoagulation Forum has made us aware of a study that is being conducted to examine families in which multiple individuals have experienced a venous blood clot (venous thromboembolism, or VTE for short). According to the information provided by the AC Forum, the researchers are particularly interested in identifying families in which: 1) three or more blood-related family members have had VTE and are alive; 2) at least one brother or sister has had VTE and at least one older brother or sister without VTE is alive; and 3) at least one daughter or son has had VTE and both parents and their children are alive. Individuals interested in participating may complete a survey at VTEfamilysurvey.isl.net.
